Those Were The Days..

Monday, August 27th, 2007

Some says that high school days is one of the most memorable times in one’s life. Couldn’t agree more. It’s certainly an interesting part of life. Late teenagers time with lotta laughter, naughtiness, while at the same time, a transition phase to next stage of life, becoming adults. Therefore, reunion with high school friends is indeed one occasion that one shouldn’t miss.

Historical reunion of SMAN-1 Batam was held last Sunday, August 26. It was held in celebration of 20 years anniversary. All alumni were invited. Looking back, time flies really fast. It’s been 7 years since the high school days.

Seeing former classmates after such a long time was a great thing. Although feeling a bit embarrassed and awkward when couldn’t recall his/her name. A little chit-chat and teasing coloured the afternoon, reminded of those times in High School days. Conversations vary from working life to family life (yes.. some of friends have already tied the knot and even having children), from teacher’s story to online-games. A fruitful session..

Not to forget, seeing former teachers again was also another great thing. It seems strange to me that they look just the same as 7 year ago. Start to believe that being a teacher is one way to stay young! hahaz..

Too bad couldn’t stay longer in the reunion as had to head to airport to catch the flight back to Jakarta again. One day short leave and two days spent back at home might seem too short, but it was a great time.. Moreover, I’ve got my driving licence in this trip. Yiha…

Those were the days.. And now some of friends are already talking about 25 years reunion in 5 years time!

Lost of Battle

Tuesday, August 21st, 2007

One of the saddest thing in life is that one can’t achieve what he/she wants to achieve, what he/she is dreaming of. Moreover, if the failure is not due to self incapabilities but more to another person or organization power.

Transfer saga of Gabriel Heinze which have dragged along the way have finally had a verdict just moments ago. The results ? triumphant of the Devil in Reds, Manchester United. The arbitrated panel has given decision in favour of United. Sadly.. Heinze’s dream of becoming the first ever direct-move player between United and Liverpool since 1964 dashes. Dream to join Rafalution shatters..

Maybe I don’t understand enough the rivalry between these two clubs, but it’s not a wise move to disallow and block a player wish to leave after you had given him a sort of consent to move away. If a player has set his heart for another club, let him go. He will no longer be the same player no matter how good he is. I sympathize Heinze for this. It’s clearly that United have double standard. At one side, they’re pursuing Tevez from West Ham, while on the other hand, blocking Heinze’s move. Why don’t you scum just let him go just like West Ham generosity to let go of Tevez ?

Again, maybe it’s all about the fiercest rivalry. But for me, it’s just showing that United is afraid of Liverpool. As simple as that. hehehe… 2 points from 3 matches ? Start panicking to buy another striker ? Go to hell!

Good luck Heinze, You’ll Never Walk Alone

Independence Day

Friday, August 17th, 2007

Today marks 62nd anniversary of this Republic. 62 is not a low figure no more. If it applies to human being, then it can be considered as final years time considering average life expectancy of Indonesian people. What have we achieved so far?

As usual, our president delivers annual speech a day before this historical day. And as usual, the speech is all about the achievement made under his/her helm, regardless of how bad the situation is. Ironically, some of the speech material are actually in contrary to what the real situation is. Reading one of the newspaper article made me laugh. It was quoted that our currency has strengthened against the greenback in one of the speech (dun remember exactly in whose speech). But Come on! If we see in the reality, market turmoil influenced by sub-prime mortgage crisis in the United States has been in headlines for weeks and the exchange rate has lowered quite a bit. What a blunder it is. Even though the text had been prepared well before the delivery date, it’s not an acceptable excuse.

Maybe this is the root cause of why our nation is still struggling in the fast-pace movement of globalization era. Ignorance and Unawareness. We have been an independent nation for 62 years, yet we are now struggling to compete with our neighbours who are more than 10 years behind us in term of independence.

But things look promising, although still need huge improvement here and there. Just hope that all will get better. Wake up my nation! Use the independence day spirit to build this nation. To achieve what we want to be when our predecessors declared the independence. Happy 62nd Anniversary.

Back To School ?

…. I’ve got no where to run
The night goes on
As I’m fading away
I’m sick of this life
I just wanna scream…….

What do you think of above quoted lyrics from one of Simple Plan song ? Sounds so desperate and helpless ? hehe.. there might be some denial but believe that everyone has got to have some times of "sick" in their life.

Not that serious till "sick" but am starting to feel bored on current job. It’s almost three years now in the same field, though a lot of interesting job and projects came along the way and the scope of the job is no more the same as the earliest time.

Switch department ? Haven’t thought about which one to go ? Switch company ? hohoho… might be tempting. But no option is as tempting as going back to school again. Think that it’s now time to see a bigger picture outside, gaining more knowledge, apart from daily work on portfolio analysis n segmentation, decision support system maintenance, querying database and other credit scoring related stuffs =)

Just visited old campus last week and suddenly the motivation of going back to school is growing further since. School again ? Hmm.. A good option to broaden the knowledge. But what else after school ? dunno.. but who knows we might find what we really like after experiencing working life and learning more in the school. So, should consider seriously.. Is it the time now ?
